United Semiconductor (Xiamen) Co., Ltd. (USCXM), a leading global semiconductor foundry, was established in 2014 as a joint venture founded by Xiamen Municipal People's Government, Fujian Electronics & Information (Group)., Ltd. and United Microelectronics Corporation (UMC), offering 12-inch IC wafer manufacturing on 40nm/28nm/22nm process technologies to global customers. USCXM held its groundbreaking ceremony on March 26, 2015 and quickly ramped to volume production in the fourth quarter of 2016. The total investment when fully equipped is expected to reach $6.2 billion US dollars, with a monthly capacity of 50,000 12-inch wafers. USCXM became a UMC wholly-owned subsidiary after UMC had completed equity repurchase in July 2023.
